I'm a mother, wife, teacher, knitter, and dog-lover with incredible shortcomings when it comes to keeping house. I am powerless against any sort of cake.
My partner in crime for most major running events is my best friend, Jen. We started our friendship sixteen years ago over a lunchroom conversation that went something like this:
Me: "Want to run a marathon?"
Her: "Yep!"
And we've been running together ever since. "Yep!" is the basis for our friendship and some great adventures. Even when we lived six hours apart (for eight years!), we still ran together--virtually and at races (although she's hella faster than me).
I've done two Ironman races, several half ironman races, a few marathons, and many half marathons. I'm an endurance sort of a gal. I've done a bunch of the sprint distance tris, and I like those enough, but 5K races aren't my cup of gatorade.

I'm rebuilding my running base. When our daughter was born, I gained a daughter but seem to have lost a minute and a half on my mile time on my long runs. Fair trade, though, really.
When I'm not running, I'm teaching. But that's a whole other blog.
